RADH 0200 – Ocean Radar

Mapping ocean currents, detecting environmental phenomena such as tornadoes and tsunamis and contributing to maritime surveillance. These are some of the functions of IACIT's RADH 0200.
The radar is a system developed to obtain the measurements of Surface Ocean Currents with HF (High Frequency) signals, contemplating the highest technology in signal processing, providing greater agility, precision, and accuracy in the measurements, according to each application being used.

The Radar Platform developed by IACIT uses concepts of modularity, making its functional and operational capabilities adaptable. It has been designed to meet the diverse demands for other radars, for example, for maritime surveillance, air traffic monitoring, and maritime sensing.

The project consists of HF Transmission and Reception subsystems, signal processing, and data storage. IACIT’s Ocean Radar needs small areas for its installation, thanks to the use of high technology.

IACIT’s Ocean Radar assists in the following applications:

• Sensing and mapping of speed and direction of the surface ocean currents;

• Continuous real-time observation of large ocean areas;

• Monitoring and forecasting of trajectories of leaks, pollution, and harmful algae;

• Effective data for maritime navigation, assisting rescue operations, search, and lifesaving;

• Speed and direction information of winds close to the ocean surface;

• Studies and research for ocean activities, providing data with standardized formatting;

• Assistance in coastal protection and surveillance.

• Assistance in weather and climate forecasts, detection of environmental hazards such as: storms, coastal erosion, tsunamis, rough seas, and other natural effects;

• Mapping and modeling to foresee the behavior of ocean currents;

• Assessment of the impacts of global warming and environmental degradation on marine habitats;

• Identification of areas of concentration of biomass, where schools of fish converge, benefiting artisanal and industrial fishing activities.
