Oceanic Radar

Ocean Current based on HF (High Frequency) band, whose results can benefit a huge number of applications, such as:

  • Sensing and Mapping of Surface Ocean Currents speed and direction;
  • Real time measurements of large ocean areas;
  • Monitoring and trajectories prediction of leaks, pollution and harmful algae;
  • Effective data for maritime navigation, increasing security levels and thus, assisting in operations of search and rescue;
  • Surface Ocean winds;
  • Studies and research of oceanic activities, providing data in standard formats;
  • Assistance in weather and climate prediction, detection of environmental hazards such as storms, coastal erosion, tsunamis, heavy seas and other natural effects;
  • Mapping and modeling of future Surface Ocean Currents;
  • Protection support to coastal surveillance;
  • Assessment of global warming impacts and degradation on ocean environment;
  • Identification of ocean resurgence areas that concentrates biomass to where the shoals converge, thereafter, aiding and optimizing industrial and artisanal fisheries;

IACIT Oceanic Radar consists of distributed subsystems whose main functions comprise the transmission of HF signals, reception of sea echoes, digital signal processing and data Storage.

IACIT Oceanic Radar system is based on cutting edge FPGA technology for signal processing, offering high speed, precise and accurate measurements, according to each application being used.

Considering the environmental standards and concerns adopted by IACIT in its Research and Development policy, the IACIT Oceanic Radar concept and design is based on technologies that makes it possible to be installed in small areas with no performance degradation.
